St Martins 0-6 Pumas

Pumas started strongly attacking from the first whistle. Chances were created but no goals came for the first seven minutes. The deadlock was broken by a fluke goal, St Martins keeper kicked the ball at George Lock which rebounded into the net. A better goal then followed. A long kick from Pumas keeper Connor Gilby bounced kindly for Bradley Lippett who chipped the ball past the advancing keeper. The second half saw the Pumas attacks continue only with more quality. Alex Manning beat two defenders to cross for Harry Snowden to poach a goal at the far post. The same pair repeated the move for Snowden to score again. Goal five came from a Lippett cross which Locke headed in and Snowden's hatrick, a superb right foot chip, completed the scoring.

Stoke Hill 1-0 Pumas

The second game saw Stoke Hill match the Pumas early on. The best chance created saw a  home side shot crack against the crossbar and Gilby needed to be alert to save well on a number of occasions. Pumas created chances also but could not finish them. On 9 minutes Stoke Hill struck, their striker left unmarked to shoot to Gilby's right.  Pumas responded with strength and determination, illustrated well by Harry Douglas tackling tirelessly in midfield, but could score. Following the half time break both sides continued to create good chances. Harry Snowden ran at the goal but lost his footing with only the keeper to beat and Locke missed when scoring seemed easier. At the back Jordan Bennington and Jack Gilhooly were outstanding as Stoke Hill attacked and the game finished with Gilby saving well on  a couple of occasions.

 Pumas 0-1 Westexe Rangers

Hendy Honda Cup Semi-Final

For the second year running the Pumas faced difficult opposition in their quest to compete in the Cup Final at St James Park. Both sides started in determined mood and the first five minutes produced no clear chances but plenty of skilful play. On six minutes Connor Gilby in the Pumas goal saved well diving to his right and the alert Jack Gilhooly and Jordan Bennington tackled the following up striker. George Locke had the Pumas first chance but shot wide to the left from a difficult position. Pumas best chance of the half came from Harry Snowden's free kick which Bradley Lippett headed down to Locke whose shot was saved by the excellent Westexe Keeper.

The second half started with a bang with Westexe hitting the post and the rebound scrambled away. Pumas continued to compete but Gilby again had to save well on a number of occasions. Tyler Dobinson and Harry Douglas tried hard to get down the flanks to create openings and a Jason Pope free kick missed narrowly to the left but still the game remained goalless. Then with four minutes to go the deadlock was broken. A Westexe clearance found their striker on the edge of the box with his back to goal, he turned and volleyed an unstoppable shot to Gilby's right. Pumas tried to respond and applied pressure right up to the end including two Alex Manning corners which where to be the last action of the game. Everyone agreed that all the boys of both teams had contributed to a top quality match but as was the case last year a Cup Final place eluded the Pumas again.

 Broadclyst 1-1 Pumas

Blue sky and warm sunshine welcomed the players onto the pitch. Both sides showed their attacking skills early on with Broadclyst creating the best chances. The Pumas defence appeared strangely lacklustre and only a superb double save by Puma's keeper Connor Gilby prevented an early Broadclyst goal. Tyler Dobinson and Bradley Lippett both had shots charged down but it was no surprise when a flowing Broadclyst move resulted in the first goal. Pumas responded and Harry Snowden was unlucky to see his long range shot saved. Then Tyler Dobinson wriggled into the box only to see his shot hit the post, Broadclyst's defence hesitated and the alert Alex Manning reacted quickly forcing the ball into the net. Both sides created opportunities, the best a Lippett shot which hit the bar, but the half finished with no additions to the score. The second half was a quieter affair and despite the best efforts of all, notably, Harry Douglas and Jack Gilhooly, both defences held firm.

Ottery St Mary 0-7 Brixington Blues Pumas

The second game again saw both sides create early chances but this time the Pumas scored first, a Lippett drive surprising the Ottery keeper. With Jordan Bennington and George Locke driving the Pumas forward further chances were created. Tyler Dobinson again hit the woodwork, this time the bar, but was not to be denied when his next shot hit the back of the net. The Pumas began the second half in style with Jack Gilhooly shooting low to the keepers left to record his first goal of the season. Harry Snowden then scored the pick of the day's goals with a bullet like header. Further goals from Lippett and Manning, the latter's a cheeky back heel reflected the Pumas dominance. The scoring was completed when Gilhooly again fired an unstoppable shot.

Exmouth Town Colts 0-3 Pumas
Hendy Honda U9
Cup Competition

A quarter-final cup game between two local rivals ensured a large crowd turned out to see this Saturday morning match.

Both sides began in determined mood with strong tackles and total commitment shown by all. Few chances were created as both sides cancelled out each other and it became clear it needed something special to break the deadlock. George Locke received the ball midway through the half and ran at the retreating Colts defence, as space opened he fired a low drive past the Colts keeper. The Pumas defence lead admirably by man of the match Jordan Bennington came under renewed pressure, but half time arrived with the score at 1-0.

The second half saw the Pumas slowly take the initiative and and a strong run from the halfway line saw Bradley Lippett one on one with the Colts keeper. His shot rolled past the keeper towards the goal with Locke tapping in from 2 yards to make sure. The Colts tried valiantly to respond but again found no way past Jack Gilhooly and Bennington leaving Connor Gilby in goal untroubled. By now strong running down both flanks by Alex Manning and Tyler Dobinson provided the Pumas with further chances and both Harry Douglas and Harry Snowden could have added to the score. It was left to Locke again to score the third goal, a rare left foot shot, beating the Colts keeper. At the end all the players received a rousing reception from the crowd in recognition of the effort shown by everyone.

Pumas Squad;- Connor Gilby, Jack Gilhooly, Jordan Bennington, Harry Douglas, George Locke, Alex Manning, Harry Snowden, Bradley Lippett, Tyler Dobinson.

Pumas 2-2 Crediton Saints 'B'

A slow start to the game by the Pumas did see Tyler Dobinson hit the post within the first few minutes, however the Saints scored a well worked goal to take an early lead.

Pumas fought well, during a goal mouth scramble Connor Gilby took command with some decisive action smothering the ball to ensure the score remained 1:0 at the end of the first half.

Early pressure in the second half saw a good save by the Saints keeper from a Dobinson shot. A well worked move from a Pumas throw in resulted in a Brad Lippett shot being pushed around the post. With the Pumas pushing for the resulting corner, a Saints striker broke away to score a good individual goal.

Pumas, at 2:0 down could have wilted but continued to push on and were rewarded with a goal taken by George Locke after an excellent midfield drive by Jordan Bennington.

In the dying seconds, Locke with a ' never say die ' attitude charged down a pass to the Saints keeper, the clearance hitting Locke and then the back of the net.... Phew!!!

Pumas 3-0 Crediton Saints 'A'

An early shot by the Saints which hit the post spurred the Pumas into action. An excellent run and cross by Harry Douglas was struck sweetly by Brad Lippett to put the Pumas one up.

A good defensive tackle by Jack Gilhooly who then worked well with Alex Manning to take the ball up feild, a pass out to Lippett on the right wing was then crossed, met by Douglas and knocked past the keeper for a great goal.

Determined midfeild tackling by Harry Snowden and Jordan Bennington resulted in a good shot from Snowden being tipped over the bar by the Saints keeper.

Saints started well in the second half, Connor Gilby was quick of his line to halt the progress of a Saints break away move. A third Pumas goal followed; strong defensive play by Gilhooly started a good passing move, the final pass by Douglas saw  George Locke side foot the ball into the goal.

Alex Manning made a fantastic covering tackle towards the end of the match which ensured the Pumas kept a clean sheet.

Well done lads, two well fought and upbeat matches.

Pumas 2-0 Alphington Arrows

On a cold overcast morning the Pumas started their first game of the day. Chances were few and far between during the early stages as both teams competed for every ball. The first chance fell to Bradley Lippett on six minutes but his shot was well saved. A further six minutes passed with only a couple of further chances until finally the deadlock was broken. A superbly flighted left wing corner from Alex Manning was met at the far post by the head of Lippett powering the header high to the keepers left. Following the half time break the Pumas tried hard to break down the well organised Arrows defence. Shots from Harry Snowden, Tyler Dobinson and Harry Douglas went close but it was George Locke's rasping low drive which finally added the second goal. The Arrows tried to respond and did create a good opportunity only to find Connor Gilby steadfast between the posts. Further chances fell to both sides but with Jordan Bennington and Jack Gilhooly defending well along with with a spirited defence from the Arrows no further goals were scored.

Pumas 4-0 Alphington Spears

In the second game of the morning it was the Spears who looked the better side during the early exchanges with Connor Gilby saving well  on a couple of occasions. Slowly the Pumas began to take control and with Jordan Bennington, Alex Manning and Jack Gilhooly defending well the confidence up front returned. Chances fell to Gearge Locke and Harry Snowden before the effervecent Harry Douglas scored twice in quick succession giving the Pumas a two goal halftime advantage. The Spears continued to threaten during the second half without success. Pumas attacks were more incisive  and the pressure began to build again on the Spears goal. It was no surprise therefore when Bradley Lippett scored followed by Tyler Dobinson's first goal of the day.

Pumas  6-0  Exwick

On a cold sunny morning the Pumas started strongly against a team they had not met before. Within a couple of minutes George Locke and Tyler Dobinson both had good shots saved by the Exwick keeper. By now the Pumas had settled into their good passing game and further chances went wide or were saved. Finally on 9 minutes Harry Snowden made the pressure pay by firing a left volley past the excellent Exwick keeper. Soon after this Harry Douglas added a second direct from a free kick and as half time approached Tyler Dobinson reacted first to the ball following a left wing corner to give the Pumas a 3-0 half time score. The second half followed a similar pattern with Bradley Lippett leading the line well. Again Harry Snowden scored the half's first goal followed by a right foot drive from George Locke and another striker's finish from Tyler Dobinson. The Pumas continued to look for openings and chances fell to Alex Manning, Jack Gilhooly and Jordan Bennington but Exwick held firm.

Pumas  4-0  Countess Wear

In the second game of the morning the Pumas soon new this would be a tougher game as Connor Gilby, a virtual spectator in goal for the first game, was soon showing his shot stopping abilities. Pumas however were giving as good as they got and it was no surprise when Jordan Bennington fired home the first goal from a corner. Moments later another corner and another Bennigton finish gave the supporters a feeling of deja vu. A third goal followed when George Locke smashed a volley past the impressive Countess Wear Goalkeeper moments before half time. Although Countess Wear competed hard and streched the impressive Blues defence it was no surprise that the Pumas scored a fourth during the second half, Harry Douglas netting for the second time today. Bradley Lippett will feel his luck was out, his shot total hit double figures but the keeper saved well time and again. Jack Gilhooly, Alex Manning and Harry Snowden could also have added to their seasons totals but where unable to convert chances. Overall everyone felt the Pumas had performed superbly in both games

Squad -- Connor Gilby, Jack Gilhooly, Jordan Benninton, Harry Douglas, George Locke, Alex Manning, Tyler Dobinson, Bradley Lippett, Harry Snowden
