U11s 'Bls' REPORTS

[ Return to Archive Menue ]

Blues under 11's played in the plate playoff competition and won their group to reach the final at St James Park.

On a very wet and small pitch, Blues went to a decider as the two top teams had equal points and goals F & A.

The only game the Blues really showed their full ability was in the decider and scored 3 excellent goals in the first 7 minutes, of a 20 minute game to clinch a place in the final

On a hot summers day last weekend Brixington Blues under 11’s entered a team into the above tournament.

From the outset the Blues knew it was going to be a tough competition as they were up against strong opponents from Torquay, Dawlish, Teignmouth, Exeter & Newton Abbot.

This didn’t seem to worry the Blues players in any way and they rose to the challenge by winning all of their seven matches.

All of the players involved produced an outstanding display of football throughout every match.

Jack Thomas started his goal scoring off this season from where he had finished last year by scoring 11 of the goals, with 2 coming from penalties. Aiden Martin was rewarded with a hat-trick.

With the regular goalkeeper on holiday Midfielder Jonjo Hunt stepped into the goalkeepers jersey for the day and as in previous tournaments this year, produced another excellent display and only conceded 1 goal which was from the penalty spot.

The defensive trio of James England, John Purchall and Sam Richards didn’t put a foot wrong all day and countered every attack with some solid defending.

The midfield pairing of Aiden Martin and Lewis White both performed well and utilised the wide pitch very well on the attack and also linked in well with striker Jack Thomas who dazzled the crowds with his excellent runs at goal and producing superb strikes at goal.

After playing this tournament over 7 hours the boys thoroughly deserved the position as winners.

Squad : -  Jonjo Hunt, James England, Lewis White, Sam Richards, John Purchall, Aiden Martin, Jack Thomas
