Brixington blues are victorious at St James Park once again with a stunning display and add another trophy to their list of honors.

With a difficult wind swirling around the pitch both teams adapted well on a perfect playing surface at St James Park. Blues started to probe with Jack Greenslade prominent down the left with a couple of good crosses into the box. Blues midfielders Liam Ellis and Mark Lever started to take control of middle and once Brixington got the ball down and played good possession football they showed why they have been a dominant force in local youth football. It wasn’t long before blues broke the deadlock Ellis had an attempt on goal which fell kindly to leading striker Adam Wakley who coolly finished past the keeper. Stoke Hill were trying to play the long ball tactic but blues backline of Ian Perkins, Joshua Sale, Hugo Demetre and Jabus Moore were coping well and managed to stop any threat from Stoke Hill. Blues doubled their lead when again Wakley was on hand to poach a goal at the far post to make it 2 – 0. Greenslade had a great chance to score but blazed his right foot shot wide of the target. Blues continued to play splendid football on the lush surface. Aaron Dawson and Sam Bird combined well down the right Bird then raced into the box only to see his low drive crash against the inside of the post and rebound to safety. Blues could sense there were more goals to come captain Lever obliged when he struck a left foot shot in off the post to make it 3 – 0 then followed a planned goal celebration performed by half the team. Blues at this point were in control and continued to play some fine football. Lever grabbed a fourth when he gambled on a high ball in the box and managed to out jump keeper Lloyd White to head home into the net. Wakley then was denied a first half hat-trick Ellis delivered a teasing free kick into the box Lever managed to head across goal for Wakley to head home but the striker was adjudged to be offside. Ellis and Greenslade had further attempts on goal but blues were well satisfied with their fist half performance.

Second half Blues once again started strongly and at times Stoke Hill struggled to get the ball out of their own half. Ellis, Lever and Wakley all had attempts on goal but were wide of the target. Blues did manage score again when there was a goal mouth scramble and striker Bird got the all important touch to put the ball over the line. Stoke Hill then had their best spell in the game but couldn’t capitalize on a couple of free kicks awarded to them. Brixington keeper Adam Cornish was well protected by the blues back line. Blues completed the scoring when Greenslade sent over a corner under the bar and winger Dawson was on hand to get a touch to put the ball in. Defender Sale was unlucky not to increase the lead he hit a rasping left foot drive from outside the box that crashed against the underside of the bar and out for safety. Blues introduced their substitutes Kyle Bassett and Adam Croft, Bassett was straight away racing into the box but lifted his lob over the bar. In the later stages blues made a switch putting keeper Cornish out on the pitch and he almost made an impact when he narrowly missed the target after Ellis had delivered the corner.

Brixington ran out the deserved winners and at times they played some delightful football that they can be really proud of. Captain Lever lifted the trophy with defender Ian Perkins picking up the man of the match award for a fine display.

Juventus Youth League U14’s Cup Semi Final

Blues book their place in Cup final at St James Park

The cup holders Brixington have reached a successive final at St James Park the home of Exeter City FC and with doing so have kept their league and cup double dream alive.

The game started with the home side Crediton having the wind behind them but they failed to capitalize on this advantage with the blues back line of Ian Perkins, Josh Sale, Hugo Demetre and Jabus Moore all solid in defence. In a physical encounter Brixington started to look more threatening going forward as the game went on both wingers Jack Greenslade and Aaron Dawson were becoming more prominent and with the strike force of Adam Wakley and Sam Bird  proving to be a handful. Blues got the breakthrough they were looking for from a free kick outside the box when Liam Ellis hit a rasping shot past the keeper. Blues had further chances to increase the lead after a Greenslade corner but a blues player couldn’t get the vital touch as the ball bounce around the six yard box. Bird and Wakley exchanged passes with the latter driving a shot at the keeper. Crediton had a glorious chance to draw level but their striker failed to make contact with the ball with the goal at his mercy.

Second half Blues raised the level with the wind behind them they pushed Crediton back and the home team struggled to keep Brixington out. Ellis doubled the lead with a fine shot inside the post to give the blues a two goal cushion. Blues approach play from midfield and around the edge of the box was causing the home team problems Ellis grabbed his hat trick scoring from close range after a corner from Greenslade. Moments later blues were celebrating again with a real smell of the St James Park turf when Dawson stabbed the ball home from close range. Blues continued to push forward and from a big kick up field from keeper Cornish Ellis set up Wakley to beat the keeper with a cool finish. Crediton grabbed a late consolation goal when Cornish was beaten with a high looping shot. This didn’t dampen the celebrations of the blues players at the end of the game with a date in May at the Park.

Pinhoe Spartans 1-5 Blues

Blues come through a sticky affair

On a glue pot of a pitch blues came through with a well deserved win to keep the pressure on rivals Pinhoe in a race for the championship.

Both teams adapted well on a very sticky pitch with the opening minutes being very tight between both teams but as the half progressed blues started to knock on the Pinhoe door. Sam Bird had a glorious chance to give the blues the lead but he placed his shot wide of the post. Midfielder Liam Ellis drove a shot just over the bar as blues were edging closer. At the other end keeper Adam Cornish saved well from a shot hit on the edge of the box. Blues then got the break through they deserved when Ellis crossed for striker Adam Wakley to pounce with a close range header. Jack Greenslade doubled the lead when he broke free in the box to finish coolly pass the keeper. Brixington had to be aware of the Pinhoe threat on the break but with Ian Perkins leading the line with Josh Sale, Jabus Moore and Hugo Demetre blues back line was proving to be a solid unit. Just before the break after good approach play Ellis rifled the third to give the blues a comfortable cushion.

Second half Pinhoe came out with abit more purpose however Greenslade had a fine chance to increase the lead but only he knows how he missed the target. Defender Perkins did well to charge down a Pinhoe goal bound effort. As the game went on blues looked like increasing the lead and Greenslade made up for his earlier miss when he got behind the Pinhoe defence to make it 4 – 0. Then from the kick off Pinhoe scored with a spectacular strike as Dan Weston saw blues keeper Cornish off his line and his high dipping shot sailed into the net. Winger Aaron Dawson missed a great chance to add to the scoring but fired wide. Perkins rose well to header just over the bar from an Ellis corner. Blues rounded off the scoring when Perkins passed was flicked on by Mark Lever to Wakley whose shot was thumbled by the keeper.

Brixington Blues completed a league double over Phoenix in a space of two weeks with midfield duo’s Mark Lever and Liam Ellis both hitting first half hat tricks.

Blues were out the traps quickly and mounted pressure on the Phoenix goal. Ellis broke the deadlock for the blues when he rifled a shot from the edge of the box. Moments later winger Adam Cornish crossed from the right and Lever was on hand to head home from close range. Adam Croft set up striker Wakley for the seventh when he raced into the box and beat the keeper with a low drive. Ellis completed the scoring late on after a great pass from Perkins to score from an acute angle. Blues Man of the match was Adam Wakley who worked tirelessly for the team throughout the game. Blues 11-0 Phoenix

Demetre hits his first hat trick

Brixington dominated the game from start to finish but couldn't find the breakthrough in the early stages after a mixture of poor finishing from the blues frontline and stout defending from the Phoenix defence. Finally blues did get the opening they were looking for when defender Hugo Demetre from distance hit a ball over the Phoenix back line and the bounce fooled the keeper to hit the empty goal. Blues forced several corners as they pinned Phoenix in their own half. Blues second was an OG after Ian Perkins attacked the ball from a corner. Jack Greenslade finished well from close range to add a third. Adam Croft scored the fourth before halftime finishing off a fine move with a shot inside the box.

Second half went the same way as the first Demetre drove in his second of the game soon after Greenslade added his second scoring from close range.Blues used Adam Cornish's long throw to good effect when Mark Lever glanced a header for Croft to score. Joshua Sale worked tirelessly in midfield he threaded a neat ball to Greenslade who crossed for Adam Wakley to score. Demetre completed his hatrick with a unstoppable shot. Juventus Youth League under 14’s Knockout Cup

Cup holders book their place in semi finals

Brixington blues powered their way to a great victory to knockout league leaders Pinhoe to put themselves in the hat for the semi finals.

Both teams adjusted to the conditions well on a pitch that had seen snow fall overnight. Blues started to gauge their passing really well, midfield duo Mark Lever and Liam Ellis both rifled in shots sending a warning signal to the Pinhoe defence. Both blues wingers Aaron Dawson and Jack Greenslade were making good runs down the wings linking well with the strikers Adam Wakley and Sam Bird. As the half progressed Blues were playing well and took the lead when Wakley found a yard of space in the box to score with a clinical finish. Pinhoe didn’t really trouble the Blues defence with Joshua Sale and Ian Perkins solid at the centre. Right and left backs Jabus Moore and Hugo Demetre played their part providing some great backup play to the wingers.

Second half blues increased the tempo and dominated the game with Lever and Ellis controlling the midfield with some fine approach play. Blues doubled their lead when Bird battled well out on the right and his cross was met by Greenslade to score at the near post. Blues continued to pour forward and Ellis made the tie safe with a low drive from the edge of the box. Blues 7-2 Stoke Hill

Blues complete league double over Stoke Hill

Blues maintained their 100% record at home this season with a comfortable win against Stoke Hill.

On a bitterly cold morning blues started the brighter side and soon went ahead from a Jack Greenslade corner the ball wasn’t cleared by the visitors and captain Mark Lever blasted the ball home from close range. It wasn’t long before blues carved up the middle of the Stoke Hill defence for leading scorer Adam Wakley to finish with a fine drive. Within a couple of minutes Wakley chased what seemed to be a lost cause but his pace and determination earned him a real poachers goal.  Greenslade broke down the left and his cross was deflected in by two Stoke Hill defenders to give the blues a 4 – 0 lead. Brixington then seem to have a mad five minutes and let Stoke Hill back into the game the defence fell asleep for the first goal and Tim Green up against a big Stoke Hill striker lost out down the right for the second with blues surprisingly only going in leading 4 – 2 at half time.

Second half blues stepped up a gear and started to create chances again Wakley grabbed his hat trick with a fine finish he then added his fourth with a fine display of finishing. Blues continued to dominate the game and at times were wasteful in front of goal. Mid way through the second half blues lost their keeper Jordon Javadi and Adam Cornish was on hand to deputies. Blues finished the scoring when Aaron Dawson was brought down in the area Dawson picked himself up to despatch the spot kick.

Blues man of the match was Adam Wakley who was excellent in front of goal.

West Exe Youth 0–3 Blues

Blues go back to the top on goal average

Brixington started the New Year with a win to go top of the league with a far greater goal average than rivals Pinhoe.

Blues started much the brighter side taking the game to Wet Exe. The home side set out their stall to defend in numbers thus making it difficult for the blues to break down. Blues midfield had control of the game and with the pace of winger Jabus Moore down the right blues looked threatening. But it was blues keeper Jordon Javadi who had to be alert early on having to make a save under his own bar. Blues forced several corners as they dominated the play Ian Perkins, Lever and Sam Bird all had headers on goal but Alex Ford in the West Exe goal was proving difficult to beat. Blues finally did take the lead with a thunder bolt free kick from the edge of the box which keeper ford didn’t even see. As the half progressed Jack Greenslade came into the game more down the left and Moore went close on the far post form the winger’s cross. Blues should’ve gone further ahead when bird and Lever couldn’t get the crucial touch as the ball fell right in front of the goal line. Blues did manage to get the a two goal cushion when Josh Sale sent a neat ball over the top of the West Exe defence for striker Adam Wakley who finished with an excellent drive. At times blues made it difficult for themselves giving the ball away cheaply and West Exe were unlucky not to pull a goal back when they hit the post after getting in behind the blues defence.

Second half Blues bossed the game again forcing many corners. Greenslade and Moore provide the service but blues strikers couldn’t capitalise in front of a heavily packed defence. Finally Brixington made the points safe Wakley swung over a corner and Bird headed home unchallenged. Bird also had a great chance to increase the lead but his shot was cleared off the line. Blues man of the match was captain Mark Lever who bossed the midfield throughout the game.

Blues 13-0 Topsham Town

Blues finish 2005 with a hatful of goals to crush Topsham

Brixington inflicted a third defeat on Topsham this season to end 2005 on real high in a game blues dominated from start to finish.

Blues were looking dangerous down the wings with both Aaron Dawson and Jack Greenslade causing problems for the Topsham defence. It was Dawson who unlocked the defence for the opening goal with an easy set up for striker Adam Wakley. Greenslade then raided down the left to find Sam Bird in the box to make it 2 – 0. Topsham didn’t really offer that much as an attacking threat but did manage to get an attempt on goal when Danny Pym forced blues keeper Jordon Javadi into making a good save. Javadi had a hand in the third goal his log kick up field was glanced on by Dawson for Wakley to finish with ease. Midfield duo Liam Ellis and Mark Lever had a free run of the midfield with most of blues approach play coming from them. Ellis indeed had two efforts on goal and a free kick but couldn’t manage to trouble the ex blues keeper Oliver Kitchen. Topsham were having to work hard to keep the blues out they defended in numbers further chances were handed to Bird and Greenslade who were unable to hit the target.

Second half Blues continued to dominate and stepped up a gear Bird grabbed his second within a minute of the restart. Lever set up Wakley for his hat-trick and Greenslade opened up his account scoring from close range as blues looked like they were going to score with every attack. The busy Ellis then got in on the act finishing a move he started. Lever then scored with a neat angled shot as Topsham continued to struggle with the wave of attacks. Greenslade notched his second with an easy finish in front of goal. Wakley hit his fourth with a fine drive over the advancing Kitchen. Blues substitutes then managed to get on the score sheet firstly defender Tim Green sent a great through ball for Adam Cornish to coolly finish with a fine strike then Lever sent Kyle Bassett clear of the defence with a neat ball over the top with Bassett looping the ball over the keeper to complete the scoring. Credit to ex blues keeper Kitchen who saved well on several occasions to prevent the score line being even higher. Blues man of the match was Joshua Sale who didn’t put a foot wrong in the game. Blues 4-3 Pinhoe Spartans Athletic

Blues win top of the table clash

After last weeks defeat by Heavitree blues bounced back in a thrilling game to topple league leaders Pinhoe who came into the game unbeaten.

Brixington started well and took the game to Pinhoe with Aaron Dawson and Sam Bird down the wings causing the visitors problems in the opening stages Strikers Jack Greenslade and Adam Wakley were also threatening with their lightening pace.

Wakley had the first chance on goal as he broke away his chip over the keeper was just too high over the goal. Liam Ellis and Mark Lever from midfield were coming into the action as the game progressed. Ellis and Greenslade had further attempts on goal as blues continued to play the football resorting Pinhoe to having to constantly clear their lines. But against the run of play it was Pinhoe who broke the deadlock when blues keeper Jordon Javadi and defender Tim Green left the ball for each other and left Pinhoe striker David Hood a simple finish into the empty net. But Brixington didn’t stop playing the better football after good work by Bird the ball fell nicely for greenslade to drive home a deserved equaliser.

Second half Blues then had a brilliant 15 minute spell again Bird forged his way down the left and his cross to the far post was met by Dawson who coolly finished. Blues who were compact at the back with Ian Perkins and Joshua Sale excellent in the centre at the back being well supported by Jabus Moore and Green. Blues continued to push forward and went further ahead when they were awarded a free kick on the edge of the box Ellis drove in the kick to the keeper’s right giving him no chance. Blues hadn’t finished when minutes later the hard working Wakley turned in the box and rifled his shot high in the top right hand corner to give blues a three goal cushion. Brixington at that point seem to drop off the pace and allowed Pinhoe to come onto them blues keeper Javadi having to tip a shot over the bar. Pinhoe then pulled a goal back after loosing possession striker Hood dribbled his way through the defence to score. Then from a corner blues failed to mark tightly and Pinhoe grabbed a third to set up a grandstand finish. Pinhoe had further attempt on goal hitting the bar and post as they went looking for the equaliser blues were holding on with every player called into defensive duties  but again Perkins was the giant at the back to preserve the lead. It was a massive relief as the final whistle went but no body could take this big victory away from Brixington it was well deserved as the league title once again hangs in the balance. Man of the match Ian Perkins he was simply awesome.

Twyford Spartans1-7 Blues

Blues win with ease coming from behind

Brixington eased to victory to do the league double over Twyford but had to come from behind to win the points.

Blues started the game well and in the opening minute Sam Bird should have put the blues one up but fired wide from close range. Aaron Dawson was causing the early problems down the right but poor finishing in front of goal allowed Twyford off the hook. Blues continued to have more of the play with Bird, Jack Greenlade and Dawson all guilty of not taking good chances in front of goal. Mark Lever then struck the angle of the woodwork as Brixington went in search of the opening goal. Twyford keeper Matt French was in excellent form saving well from Dawson and Bird. Defender Ian Perkins had the best chance of the half when he managed to hook the ball over the bar with goal at his mercy. Twyford also looked dangerous on the break with blues defenders Perkins, Josh Sale, Jabus Moore and Tim Green all having to be on their guard with the Twyford attack. Surprisingly with all the chances blues had in the first half it was Twyford who took the lead when a ball came into the box midfielder Liam Ellis was adjudged to of handled and referee pointed to the spot. Although blues keeper Jordon Javadi guessed right he couldn’t stop Joe’s Moore penalty.

Second half blues were level in seconds from the restart Ellis fed Greenslade down the left and his cross was turned over the line by Bird. Minutes later blues were in front Dawson raided down the right and his cross found Lever free in the box who rifled his shot past French. Dawson himself grabbed a third scoring from close range.

Brixington had moved into top gear and substitute Kyle Bassett had only been on the pitch for a minute when he hit a fourth. Blues midfield were in total control Lever and Ellis combined well they fed Greenslade who crossed for Dawson to make it 5 – 1.

Heavitree Youth 1-0 Blues

Blues drop first league points of the season

Blues dropped their first league points of the season in a game they new should’ve won but failed to penetrate a resolute Heavitree defence.

There was an usual edginess about the blues play as they seem to struggle to get into any type of rhythm with Heavitree clearly setting out there play to try and unsettle Brixington. In a tight first half blues did have the better of the chances with striker Sam Bird going close from close range. Blues had several crosses going into the box but it always need a final touch from a blues player which it just seemed each time not to be there. Heavitree had some chances of there own but Ian Perkins and Joshua Allen dealt well with any onslaught at the centre of defence, the long kick from the keeper seemed to be a threat but blues keeper Jordon Javadi coped well with the aerial bombardment.

Second half Brixington raised the tempo of the game and enjoyed far more possession Jack Greenslade got round the back of the defence only to blaze his shot over. Blues had further chances to break the deadlock with Mark Lever shooting over, Joshua Sale screwed his shot wide from a good position. After a good run Perkins drove wide as blues went for the opener. Midway through the second half Heavitree then struck Blues lost possession in midfield the ball went wide and a low cross got the finest touch off a Heavitree forward to give the home team the lead. Blues continued to power forward as the Heavitree keeper Joel Foster managed to stop or deflect everything blues through at him. Blues then were let down by a poor decision by the referee when Adam Croft taken down clearly inside the box but to every ones amazement he pointed to a free kick out side the area. From that moment on you new it wasn’t to be blues day. Right at the end Bird’s header agonisingly went the wrong side of the post. Heavitree new what a big victory this was they celebrated as if they won the league. Man of the match went to Jabus Moore who was outstanding at left back in a position he was filling in for. This week blues play host to league leaders Pinhoe in a top of the table clash.

Team: -  Jordon Javadi, Ian Perkins, Jabus Moore, Tim Green, Joshua Allen, Mark Lever, Adam Wakely, Jack Greenslade, Sam Bird, Adam Croft, Michael Cope.

Blues 21-0 Honiton Town

Ellis and Wakely share 13 goals as blues go goal crazy with record score

Brixington recorded their highest ever score line as they went goal crazy against a shell shocked Honiton side with Liam Ellis and Adam Wakely sharing 13 goals between them.

Blues took command right from the first whistle left winger Jack Greenslade provided 4 perfect deliveries for Sam Bird, Adam Wakely, Mark Lever and Liam Ellis to all score goals inside 9 minutes. From there on brixington showed an awesome display of possession football and clinical passing as Honiton struggled to contain a blues side whose pressure was relentless. Striker Wakely was on fire in front of goal along with midfielder Ellis who showed an awesome display of strength and power. Between them both they added a further 6 goals with right back Tim Green obliging with 2 assists. Blues defence were rarely troubled with Ian Perkins and a first appearance for Joshua Allen this season and Jabus Moore always in command. There were further chances from Bird, Lever, Greenslade and Wakely and Moore as blues went in at half time 10 – 0 to the good.

Second half Blues continued in the same fashion with continuous pressure on the Honiton goal, Wakely and Ellis continued to add to their goal tally and amazingly shared 13 goals between them in a display of outstanding finishing in front of goal.

Later they were both substituted to give Adam Croft & Kyle Bassett a run out Croft grabbed two goals and Bassett cleverly chipped the keeper to add to the scoring. The hard working Greenslade opened his account with a well taken goal inside the box. From a Croft corner saw Lever latch onto the ball to score from close range. Crediton Youth 0-2 Blues

Blues remain on top with 100% record

Both teams went into this fixture unbeaten this season and it was Brixington who emerged with their unbeaten record in tact with an away victory over Crediton.

Brixington started the game much the brighter team clearly having the lion share of possession. With good approach play from the midfielders Mark Lever and Liam Ellis they soon got the wingers Jack Greenslade and Kyle Bassett into the game. Crediton were defending well preventing the blues strikers a clear cut chance on goal. Brixington did manage break the deadlock mid way through the first half when Lever,  Bassett and Adam Wakely combined well to set up Sam Bird who’s neat header  beat the keeper. Greenslade continued to provide some good crosses for the blues strikers but at times they were not capitalising on the chances in front of goal. Up the other end blues keeper Jordon Javadi was never tested and defenders Hugo Demetre, Tim Green, Josh Sale and Ian Perkins were well in control.

Second half Brixington still had most of the play but again didn’t really have the cutting edge in front of goal. Wakely and Lever had good efforts saved by the Crediton keeper and Ellis hit the post with a fine drive as blues went in search for the second goal. The wings were still their best option as Greenslade remained a constant threat from the left. But blues second goal came from the right when substitute Jabus Moore ran from his own half beating three players along the way to cross for Wakely who finished in clinical fashion to seal victory for the blues. Crediton set out to try and stop blues playing but Brixington were always the better side in this top of the table clash. Man of the match was Liam Ellis who was commanding in midfield. This week blues play host to Honiton Town .

Cup holders ease their way in to the next round

Topsham Town had key players missing and could only field 10 players and on the day they just couldn’t live with a powerful blues side who dominated from start to finish.

Brixington camped in the Topsham half and played good possession football, striker Sam Bird had a glorious chance to put the blues in front but some how missed with the goal at his mercy. But soon after the flood gates opened when Adam Wakely stripped the Topsham defence for pace and crossed for Jack Greenslade to score at the far post. Then good work down the left by Greenslade crossed for Bird to stoop low to head pass the keeper. Mark Lever added the third arriving from midfield to score from close ranged. Good work again around the box by Wakely set Lever up for his second. Michael Cope added a penalty for the fifth after Bird was tripped in the area. Blues continued to come forward Wakely was then pushed inside the penalty area Mark Lever despatched the resulting penalty kick. Jack Greenslade was unlucky not to add to the scoring when his left foot effort rattled the cross bar. Stoke Hill came close to pulling a goal back themselves from a free kick but blues keeper Jordon Javadi was equal to it tipping the ball over the bar. Blues 5-1 West Exe Youth

Greenslade hits 3 as blues maintain unbeaten run

Blues kept up their unbeaten run with their fourth win in succession.

Brixington started the game really well with both wingers Jack Greenslade and Jabus Moore seeing plenty of the ball and it was evident the West Exe defence were struggling with the pace of the two wingers. Blues were unlucky not to take the lead when Hugo Demetre combined well with Greenslade his crossed was met by striker Adam Wakley whose shot came back off the crossbar. Blues continued to keep the pressure on and finally got the break through they deserved Wakley chased a ball down in the West Exe area his low crossed was drilled in to the net by Greenslade. Blues should’ve doubled the lead when Greenslade’s cross found Sam Bird but he put his header the wrong side of the post. Wakley had two further chances but both efforts were saved by the West Exe keeper. Moore also had efforts on goal as blues tried to increase their lead. Blues then regretted not taking those chances and allowed West Exe back in the game in a rare attack Blues defenders stood off the West Exe strikers and blues keeper Jordon Javadi couldn’t do anything about the long range shot that leveled the scores.

Second half blues once again came out more positive Mark Lever in midfield started to find his passing range and combined well with Greenslade down the left. Striker Bird found himself in a good position to score but yet again was foiled by the keeper. Wakley raced into the box but his strike on goal was saved by the keeper. Greenslade finally doubled the lead finishing off a move from inside the box and within a minute Greenslade was involved again as his effort took a deflection to give the blues a two goal cushion. From here on in blues took control the Brixington defence were never really tested with Ian Perkins Joshua Sale, Demetre and Tim Green all having good games. Blues went further ahead Lever fed Greenslade his chip over the keeper came off the woodwork and Wakley was left with a simple header. Again Lever and Greenslade combined well and this time Perkins was on hand to score from close range. Man of the match for the blues was Jack Greenslade who made a major contribution.

Bow Eagles 1-6 Blues

Bird grabs hat trick as blues keep run going

Blues kept up their unbeaten run with an away win at Bow giving them three wins out of three.

The game was played on a small pitch which didn’t suit the blues style of play. The opening minutes was a case of the blues trying to find some sort of rhythm against a Bow team who were content to defend in numbers and make it difficult for Brixington to play. Right winger Jabus Moore was probing well down the right as blues took control of the game pinning Bow back in their own half. Blues almost took the lead when Tim Green’s cross found Jack Greenslade on the far post his effort on goal went narrowly wide. Blues did finally open the scoring when Hugo Demetre fed Greenslade down the left his cross was met by striker Sam Bird who scored from close range. Minutes later Bow stunned the blues with an equaliser the brixington defence went to sleep and keeper Jordon Javadi couldn’t prevent Bow scoring. Brixington kept the pressure up and were soon back in front. Greenslade sent over a corner and with the ball breaking loose in the box Mark Lever was on hand to score from close range. Lever then gave blues a better cushion when he added a third after a goal mouth scramble. Striker Adam Wakely had two efforts on goal but the Bow keeper was equal to them Bird then grabbed his second goal when Lever’s put a through ball into the box and Bird finished well with a shot that went in off the post.

Second half blues maintained the dominance although the football was played in crowded areas Brixington still managed to create chances. Wakely had further chances to score but couldn’t find the finishing touch. Blues defence was well in control with Ian Perkins leading the show at the back along side Michael Cope, Green, Demetre, and Joshua Sale. Greenslade then set up Bird with a cross that was tucked away by Bird. Lever rifled a free kick just wide as Brixington tried to increase their lead. Wakely was finally rewarded with a goal after latching onto a through ball into the box he coolly slotted home number six.

Blues Man of the match was Tim Green who played intelligently throughout the game.
